Cycling in Dalmatia

 

Day 1

Arrival to Split . Transfer to the town of Trogir, a small beautiful Mediterranean town, whose old town is listed on the UNESCO world heritage list, with its cathedral of St. Lawrence. Accommodation in the hotel (Bed & Breeakfast). Free tim to explore the stone cobbled streets of Trogir, its lively squares and the sea promenade. Overnight.

Day 2

After breakfast, free time and self organized transfer to Split town. According to time of arrival, free time to explore the Old Town of Split and the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s palace, also enlisted in the UNESCO world heritage list. Afternoon catamaran to island and town of Korcula. Accommodation in a local guesthouse. Overnight.

Day 3

Bike takeover in Korcula. Today, we suggest the “warm up” cycling tour to Lumbarda, a small village at the eastern end of Korcula island. Possibility for a swim on the well known Lumarda sand beach. Return to Korcula, for further exploration of this beautiful Adriatic gem, often called “little Dubrovnik”, because of its very well preserved Old Town, built from stone. Overnight in Korcula.

Day 4

Daily excursion to the island and National Park of Mljet. In the morning we emark the boat with our bikes and take a 2h30 drive to the island of Mljet, enjoying the view of the open sea on one side and Korcula archipelago and Peljesac peninsula on the other side. Sometimes even dolphins come to greet us! Island of Mljet is the green oasis of Dalmatia, so you will enjoy its mild climate while exploring the beautiues of the National Park. Return to Kocula in early evening. Overnight in Korcula.

 

 

Day 5

OPTIONAL DAY: on this day you may choose to cycle to the southern side of the island, to enjoy a rest and a swim in one of the beautiful bays of this side of the island, or to take a daily trip to Dubrovnik, the most famous Old Town on this part of the Mediteranean (UNESCO)!

Day 6

In the morning, boat transfer to the peninsula of Peljesac, just across the channel from Korcula. Cycling on Peljesac, enjoying the views of the islands and vineyards that surround us and from which famous peljesac wines are produced. In late afternoon, return to Korcula and overnight.

Day 7

Cycling to the villages of the central plateau of Korcula, getting to know the local agriculture and village life. Afterwards, descent to the northern coast of Korcula and enjoying a cycling route all the way back to Korcula, along the sealine of the crystal blue Adriatic. Overnight in hotel.

 

 

Day 8

Early morning catamaran to Split. Taxi transfer to Split airport.
